What Does the Process Involve?
If you are deemed to be a good candidate for a PDO thread lift, there are several things you should do to prepare yourself. If you take any medications that thin the blood, stop taking them about one week prior to the lift. Don't drink alcoholic beverages for 48 hours before the lift. Schedule some downtime following the lift to properly recover. Women should also make sure to take their menstrual cycles into account when scheduling lifts in order to reduce potential bleeding.
During your initial appointment with Image Oasis Medical Spa, we will develop a personalized treatment plan together. During the treatment sessions, the area of skin is sanitized and numbed. The treatment process typically lasts between 45 and 70 minutes.
Following a treatment session, patients should do the following:
- Avoid sun exposure.
- Apply ice for the first 24 to 48 hours.
- Take NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen for any pain.
- Use Betadine for the first day to prevent infection.
- Don’t perform strenuous activities or move your facial muscles too much for the first week or two.
There is typically a period of downtime following the lift. While most patients can return to their daily routine rather quickly, heavy exercise should be avoided for two weeks following the procedure.
Patients should see an immediate lifting of the skin around the affected area, and skin appearance will continue to improve for about two to six months afterward as natural collagen production increases. Results can last for anywhere between six months and two years, depending on each case.
